Navy assists smooth function of health services at several hospitals

In the wake of the shortage of health staffs at hospitals amidst their strike action, the Sri Lanka Navy today (13th February 2024) stepped up to render assistance, to avoid inconvenience to the public and ensure the continuity of essential services in several hospitals.

At the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, a group of 45 naval personnel were sent to the District General Hospital Trincomalee and another group of 10 to the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, Welisara. Accordingly, the Navy teams are working in cooperation with the hospital staffs and their intervention has come as a welcome relief for those in need of urgent care.

Meanwhile, The Navy is always prepared and accessible to assist the public in times of any emergency.
