Kidnapped girl found in Kilinochchi.
Suspected ex-boyfriend also arrested
The Kilinochchi Police said that the kidnapped girl was found this morning (18) in the Punnalaikkadduwan area of Kilinochchi and the main suspect who kidnapped the girl has also been arrested.
The kidnapped girl is a 26-year-old resident of Jaffna and she works at a beauty salon in Punnalaikkadduwan area of Kilinochchi and had been staying in that area on a rented basis. She was forcibly abducted by a group in a van while she was returning to her rented house after finishing her work on the night of the 16th.
Extensive investigations by Kilinochchi Police
Following the incident, the Kilinochchi Police conducted an extensive investigation and just as the suspects were about to be arrested, the suspects fled after handing over the kidnapped girl to her relative’s house in Kilinochchi.
Ex-boyfriend arrested as main suspect
The Kilinochchi Police have arrested the main suspect and the van used in the kidnapping of the young woman in the early hours of this morning (18) and have taken steps to arrest two other suspects.
The police, who conducted investigations into the kidnapping, have discovered that the main suspect is also a relative of the young woman and that the two had been in a romantic relationship for some time. Due to strong opposition from both parties’ parents when they came to know about it, the kidnapping was carried out because the young woman had stopped the relationship and rejected the young man.
