Kidnapped Lorenzo son – 04 multi-day yacht has been rescued.
The Sri Lankan Navy said that the Seychelles Coast Guard rescued the fishing vessel and the Sri Lankan fishermen on board.
Navy spokesman Captain Gayan Wickramasuriya said that three pirates were also arrested by the Seychelles Navy.
The Seychelles Navy has confirmed that the vessel and all six fishermen are safe.
It is said that the fishing vessel is currently being taken to the capital of Victoria, Seychelles.
Meanwhile, the Fisheries Department also states that the Seychelles Embassy has confirmed that the fishing vessel has been rescued.
The Lorenzo son 04 multi-day vessel, which joined its maiden voyage on the 12th from Dikowita port, was captured by pirates with six fishermen on Saturday the 27th.
Mr. Piyal Nishantha, Minister of State for Fisheries, says that the fishing boat with fishermen kidnapped by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea has been found by the coast guard of the country this afternoon while entering the coast of Seychelles.
He said this while attending a media meeting held at the ministry today.
